Precision chemical etching has become the mainstream manufacturing process for high-end metal coffee filters. Different from traditional weaving, stamping, and laser drilling, it adopts normal-temperature stress-free chemical subtractive forming technology. It can mass-produce uniform micron-level micro-hole arrays on 0.05mm–0.3mm food-grade stainless steel sheets, featuring high precision, high cleanliness, zero deformation, and flexible customization. It effectively solves the common defects of traditional filters, such as unstable extraction, easy dirt accumulation, structural deformation, and short service life.
1. Stress-Free & Deformation-Free with Higher Fitting Stability
The etching process belongs to cold chemical processing without mechanical extrusion or high-temperature thermal impact, leaving no residual stress on the metal substrate. Traditional woven filters are prone to sagging and uneven surfaces; stamped filters easily warp; laser drilling causes thermal deformation. These defects lead to poor fitting with filter cups, water leakage, and unstable flow rate. Etched filters maintain excellent flatness, never sag or deform after repeated hot water flushing and temperature cycling, ensuring stable extraction flow and consistent brewing results while improving the yield of edge rolling and welding processes.
2. Micron-Level Precise Aperture & Uniform Water Permeability
Etching achieves a precise aperture tolerance of ±0.01mm with highly unified hole size, spacing, and distribution, making it the only mass-producible solution for ultra-uniform micro-hole arrays. Woven filters have random hole sizes and irregular gaps; stamped holes form tapered bell mouths; laser holes feature rough inner walls and large dimensional deviations. Etched straight holes with smooth vertical walls deliver consistent water resistance. Custom aperture and density layouts can be tailored for light roast, dark roast, fine grinding, and coarse grinding, fundamentally solving under-extraction and over-extraction problems.

Etched holes feature smooth, rounded edges without burrs or hidden corners, preventing coffee fine powder and grease adhesion. Traditional woven filters easily accumulate dirt and mold in staggered gaps; stamped and laser-drilled filters have sharp burrs that scratch coffee utensils and residue coffee grounds. Etched filters have passivated smooth surfaces that allow quick cleaning with plain water. They fully comply with FDA and LFGB food contact standards for safer and longer-term use.
4. No Hard Mold Required, Fast Iteration & Low Customization Cost
Traditional stamping and weaving require expensive mold opening and machine adjustment for style changes, resulting in long and costly sampling cycles. Etching uses photomasks instead of steel molds, enabling design modification and 24–48 hour fast sampling. It seamlessly supports small-batch customization and mass production. Special-shaped outlines, gradient density holes, diversion holes, and laser-etched logos can be integrally formed in one process, greatly reducing brand R&D costs and product launch cycles.
5. Food-Grade Material Compatibility with Superior Corrosion Resistance & Longer Service Life
The process stably processes 304 and 316L food-grade stainless steel without damaging the original substrate performance. 316L etched filters resist weak coffee acid and high-temperature steam corrosion, perfectly adapting to high-frequency commercial brewing scenarios with far better anti-aging performance than ordinary woven filters. All materials are traceable with no harmful precipitation, meeting full export food-grade testing requirements.
